Where do we source the rest of our ingredients? Our spices and assorted herbs come from a variety of different companies, based on current prices, our shipping needs, and availability. We generally use Starwest Botanicals, Frontier Co-Op, Mountain Rose Herbs, Amolette Apothecary, and Pacific Botanicals... and we are always looking to find suppliers closer to home. (Amolette is in Maine and we are super thrilled about finding them!) These companies are not only organic but believe in responsible, sustainable harvesting, fair-trade certified, and they are good to the planet.

Do we make our own blends?Absolutely. All of our blends are recipes I've either created or found and tweaked. Many recipes come from a customer need, and we build a tea blend for them and give it a go on our shelves. Some of our blends are simple, and others are more complex, but each one has been tried and tested by many folks before it hits the public eye. Sometimes, we simply recreate a popular/common blend because folks have a memory of a tea from a larger, more commercial company and we remake it while staying true to what the original blend was.

Do we have a storefront? We did, and now we don't. I made it as a storeowner for a year and it just wasn't for me. It's a very long story with many layers but suffice to say we have a great online business, a packed show schedule, farmers markets, speaking engagements, and we are always expanding our retail store locations. You can find our teas in many stores in CT (check out that tab)!
-
Do we teach classes?Yes! Sometimes online, and sometimes libraries ask me to teach classes. I teach a variety of subjects; mainly gardening, herbs, tea making, and homesteading.
-
Do we offer open farm days? Not yet but that is our next goal.
-
Do we take custom orders?Absolutely!
-
Do we wholesale, sell in bulk, or take special orders for teachers, schools, community events, businesses, and fundraisers?Yes to all of the above! Check out the wholesale tab if you own a store and are interested in carrying our product by the scoop, by the cup, by the bag, or by the ounce. We have taken part in many local fundraisers, donated baskets to causes that are important to us and our community, and we love making special orders for birthdays, holidays, or any special occasion.

Are we THAT Bittersweet Farm from the Branford area? You'd be surprised at how many times we get asked this question. And no, we are not. We started our business almost 10 years ago, which was long after 'that' Bittersweet Farm closed up shop. We were new to that area and had no idea of its name or just how loved and missed that place was. (Nor that we both offered herbal products!) We are grateful that they had such a great reputation, although we hope to continue making a name for ourselves and defining ourselves as CT's favorite local tea company. Check out our mini story towards the bottom of the 'Meet the Team' page.
